2012 Indian Auto Expo is closely approaching with plenty of introductions and the manufacturers are holding their breath with a hope to thrive in the automotive industry in 2012. Around 55 new cars will launched at this Auto Expo, which a positive shift from 50 cars introduced in 2011 at same event. There were approximately 42 automobile manufacturing companies in 2011, and in 2012, it is expected to be 50. The Nissan will also be launching its Multi Purpose Vehicle independently.
The minivan with 10-passenger seating capacity based on Nissan NV 200 will be introduced. Another French automaker, Peugeot Citroen will launch its Peugeot 508 saloon with other cars during the rest of 2012. Maruti India, India’s largest automobile manufacturing company will be launching a car designed for almost all segments, such as highly developed version of Maruti 800, small Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and best-in class sport utility vehicle called Maruti Ertiga. Tata Motors will also be introducing the Nano Diesel at 2012 Indian Auto Expo.
The Indian automotive industry is going to observe hybrid car reign rise in India in the year 2012. Maruti Suzuki, General Motors and Tata Motors will be leading in hybrid car introductions setting new benchmarks and challenging other car makers to join the Auto Expo soon. The much-awaited small car of Bajaj Auto will be providing class leading fuel economy in its category. In the motorcycle class, Yamaha will be showcasing array of scooters. Bajaj Auto will offer KTM motorcycles and Piaggio will launch a bike for the first time at 2012 Indian Auto Expo.
In super and premium luxury segment, Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Porsche will make their presence felt. New players of 2012 Indian Auto Expo include Bugatti, a supercar manufacturer; Peugeot Citroen, which is planning to set up a production facility in Gujarat; Kamaz Vectra, Russian company, which develops trucks in India; Isuzu, Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturing company; Daimler Commercial Vehicles; Garware Motors, local name that started selling superbikes; Polaris, an off-road vehicle manufacturer; Triumph Motorcycles, a United Kingdom based firm and BMW Motorrad. Bajaj Auto’s much awaited small car, which promises to have the best mileage in its class, will be unveiled at the show.
Mr. Sugato Sen, Senior Director at SIAM said that the area at Pragati Maidan is approximately 70,000 square metres. Between top international manufacturing companies contributing at Auto Expo, the non-existence of Fiat amongst others is certainly going to be felt at prestigious 2012 Indian Auto Expo show.
