The much awaited upgraded 2012 BMW 3 series would be unveiled this week in India. Like its global products wherein BMW has around body styles spawning the 3 series platform, it is rumored that the Indian version would also follow suit and be showcased in its 5 body styles. The earlier 3 series codenamed as F30 would also have a new name plate to it rather than the 3 series tag. It is said that it would have a new moniker as 4 series.
BMW would be taking down design cues from the new 5 series and there would be more of a leg room on offer than the outgoing version. With this car, BMW plan to take on the fight to its rivals like Mercedes and Audi. There would be more fuel efficiency as also power on tap with the engine options remaining the same. BMW also plan on setting up their engine manufacturing unit in India and this move would help BMW in undercutting its rivals by a significant margin. Prices for the new 3 series are also expected to be lower than what its competition claims and we expect it to be priced between Rs 23 lakhs to Rs 34 lakhs. This car would however be available in India only towards the end of 2012.
