General Motors has hatched the perfect plan to get ahead of their competitors. Mahindra and Mahindra had been playing to put forward to the people the new Mahindra Xylo after its previous MPV’s didn’t fair too well in the market. But General Motors doused its strategies by rendering their plans defunct as they are bringing in their own Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3. This has may put Mahindra and Mahindra ruing over their yesterday’s launch of the Xylo.
This car is sure to create quite a buzz given its stylish features and upgraded components. General Motors are counting on the Chevrolet Tavera for giving them a much needed facelift in the cut throat competition of today’s auto industry. But given the price associated and the pictures displayed of the car, it’s sure to be a head turner after its launch. It is priced at a moderate Rs.6.72 lakh (ex-showroom price).

The exteriors have stuck to its characteristics: the robust look has been accentuated with the help of alloy wheels and a new set of headlights. The company doesn’t shy away from making the brand logo a bit bigger than that embossed on earlier models. It now sports a dual color tone that goes well with the feel of the car.
Now coming to the interiors, we would have to say we are thoroughly impressed. The interiors now house a three spoke power steering wheel and incorporate an innovative dual cockpit design. Moreover the car makers have gone onto render the instrument cluster with blue illumination.
Now coming to the changes in specifications, one that caught our eyes the first was the 2.0 liter TCDi diesel engine. The engine is set to rake in some tremendous bhp for its Tavera Neo 3 model. The machine is to churn out a thrust of 105 bhp producing 4000 rpm. It is being said that the engine will generate power of 263 Nm at 2500 rpm torque. The car with its mean built up is run on a massive 55 liter fuel tank.
Now if you are wondering with the advent of the new model, what happens to the earlier model: it is also here to stay, well as of now at least! The car company doesn’t stop discontinue production of the Chevrolet Tavera 2.5 liter BS3 Diesel engine from the market. The older model is a tried and tested hunk that has lived up to expectations. The company banks on this 78 bhp engine to churn out revenue for the cash register till the sales of the Tavera Neo takes off. The old model will now be focused at competing in the taxi segment by General Motors.
Though no official word is in yet, but the price will start from 6.72 lakh and go upwards till 10.26 lakh. The Tavera comes under five names, namely the Neo Max, the Neo 3, the Neo LT and the Neo 3 LS.
