Honda has released the first images of the Next Gen Touring Car version of the Civic that will be racing in the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Now hold you horses. This wont be replacing the Civic we have in India. The European Civic is a hatchback, while the Indian Civic is a sedan, and their designs are a world apart.
Honda always oozes us with the Civic styling, and this new baby in its European guise got looks to die for. Known as the Civic Next Generation Touring Car, or Civic NGTC, the car made its first public debut at the at the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit in England yesterday. The next test session follows 23 February, at Donington Park circuit. Both Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden and triple-BTCC champion Matt Neal will be pushing the car to the limit to make it is as competitive as possible ahead of the season debut on 1 April 2012.
“This is the first opportunity we have had to get behind the wheel to really see what the car has got. The team are really pleased with the results from the test at MIRA last week and I can’t wait to finally start putting the car through its paces. It will be interesting to see how the car performs, but I’m optimistic that we’ll walk away from today confident we have a championship winning car.”, said Matt Neal.
Though the company declined to go into details of the Euro-spec Civic, its aggressive body kit and the side-mounted exhaust could not go unnoticed. Also visible are the prominent rear spoiler, roll cage and Dunlop tyres.
