In its humongous appeal, the all-new Mahindra Xylo has more to it than its subtle appearance from its predecessor. With the tried and tested e-Hawk Scorpio engine and never before seen features like Voice Command Technology, the new Xylo promises to keep the sales high as its predecessor which in 3yrs sold over 30,000 units.
Looks:
At the first glance, it appears like a sleeker and compact cosmetic uplift of its predecessor. Well it’s true on the exterior. It has front grille, which almost extends to the headlamps like in the XUV500. The Mahindra logo is incorporated in the bonnet. Headlamps have been redesigned which also incorporate the indicator lights. The contour lines of bonnet and the airdams give it a more sport sedan appearance. On the sides, we see new footsteps with mud flaps. The blackened pillars, body side molding and body decals again give it a sleek appearance. Also the pronounced wheel arches gives the Xylo a SUV look. On the rear, we have sporty spoilers and redesigned tail lamps. Overall, it has a dynamic and sleek appearance.

Interior:
Mahindra has designed the Xylo in a manner where a journey of several hundred miles may feel like a trip round the neighborhood. The interiors of the Xylo are Genuine Italian leather. It has sporty new center console. The glossy two-toned wood finish of walnut brown color gives a feeling you’re in a Spanish beach cottage. In addition, features the steering with voice command switch and audio controls mounted on it, an absolute distinct feature. Just another reason why it has the name, MPV. The door has new redesigned inner door handles and convenient storage places, which include the floor console. The kids will also have their foldable snack trays, which are mounted, behind the front seats. We can also enjoy the individual AC vents and now there is light for all three rows. The flat bed seats are also incorporated which is seen in its predecessor.
On the technological end:
The most distinct feature of the Mahindra Xylo is the never before seen Voice command technology. There are over 30 commands and 15 security warnings. Just tap the switch on the steering wheel and say “Headlamps on” and the headlamps are switched on. This also gives you control over the wipers, door lock to name a few. Also features intellipark reverse assist to guide you into the parking space without a scratch. In addition to it, some features like Digital drive assist system, ABS with EBD and Cruise control assure that you reach your destination safely. Other safety features like dual SRS airbags and Extra stability technology offer dynamic stability to the Xylo.
Performance:
This MPV is available under three different powerhouses. The mDI CRDe engine is meant for the commercial purpose with an output of 95bhp and gives 14.95kmpl. The personal segment Xylo is powered by a mEagle engine with max output of 112bhp and gives 13kmpl, while the premium class Xylo is powered by powerful mHawk engine, which gives you an immense output of 120bhp and does 14.02kmpl. To this powerful powerhouse, the Xylo has 5MT transmission. Though initially the Xylo is a 2wheel drive, there are claims that the 4X4 version will be available for the foreign markets. South Africa is one of the markets for the Xylo where the right hand drive will be seen before there are plans for the left hand drive versions.
