Anticipated to be introduced at Auto Expo, the 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport’s introduction in India will have to wait for a while as Mitsubishi and Hindustan Motors won’t be participating at the event because of floods in Thailand. However, it will be introduced in the month of February this year and will be designed and engineered at Chennai manufacturing facility of Mitsubishi-Hindustan Motors. It is the 2nd time the much awaited sport utility vehicle launch has been delayed because of the natural calamity in Thailand. Originally, it was Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan, in 2011 which pushed Pajero Sport to 2012. It will be available for the price of around Rs. 20 lakhs.
Powering the 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be a 2.5 liter intercooled turbocharged diesel engine, which will crank out 135 horsepower with 320 newton meters of torque. The engine will either be mated to five-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. It will provide comfortable seating capacity for seven passengers and will be equipped with plethora of safety features like airbags and antilock braking system. The Pajero Sport offers abundance of storage space and will directly lock horns with BMW X1 and Toyota Fortuner.
