2014 Mercedes-Benz S Class spotted in China

It has been less than 4 weeks since Mercedes revealed its 2014 S Class at an exciting event in Germany and the car has already hit the shores of China. The car was spotted by the team from CarnewsChina and was S500 variant. The car was spotted while it was in the cargo pallet in the Tianjin Binhai International Airport. If the reports are correct then the Chinese version of S Class will be launched at the 2013 Chengdu Auto Show.

The S500 is top of the line petrol variant. The vehicle is powered by a 4.7 litre V8 engine that churns out about 455 PS of power and peak torque of 700 nm. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7G tronic plus gearbox. China will be receiving all the petrol versions of the S Class but only in the large wheelbase version. As far as the market is concerned the new S Class will be competing with the BMW 7 series, Audi A8 and jaguar XJ. In the Chinese market it currently stood at the 2nd place just after Audi A8.

China is one of the largest growing car market in the world. The sale figures runs in million units and pretty much overwhelms the American market. China is becoming the hottest destination for the car markers to showcase their new products which is one of the most prominent reason behind the spotting of car in China just after its unveiling.

For the Indian market S Class is expected to arrive by early 2014. Since German car makers assemble the car at Indian facilities so, it is expected that Indian market will get all its version. And body style.
