Hyundai not tired of selling the same Elantra for years, now, launched the 2015 version of this sedan in India with prices starting from Rs 14.13 lakh onwards (ex-showroom Delhi). The changes carried out this time aren’t visible from an untrained eye. Scanning it under the microscope, it becomes visible the headlamp unit is restructured with regards to projector diodes, blacked out casing and fresh setup of LED strips also used. All the said drama on 2015 Elantra is followed by a more contoured and deeper fog lamp enclosure. Other trimmings and resurrections include reworked rear bumper with blackened lower section; and fresh set of tail lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels completes the package.
The cabin also hosts various interesting inserts that include complete black theme instead of beige and grey duel-tone. The 4.3-inch colour touchscreen placed on central console works for the rear parking camera, where the images from this parking equipment were earlier displayed on the mirror. Air-con vents have grown in size to offer a better feel, and improved cooling.
The features list of 2015 Elantra is spruced up with other additions like, cruise control, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, ventilated front seats, 6-airbags, Bluetooth and ESC to name some of them.
The engine options provided are just carried over from the existing model. A 1.8-litre petrol of 148bhp and 181Nm is found alongside the 1.6-litre diesel of 126bhp and 260Nm. Both the machines come mated with a six-speed manual, which can get exchanged for a six-speed automatic gearbox as well.
Hence, the automatic version is available only in one trim, SX; while the manual gets two of them, S and SX. Topping them, diesel also gets a lower base model.
