Recently the Mercedes-Benz C-class was spotted undergoing test drives in USA. The car’s design is on the lines of its earlier versions but some important amendments have been made. This C-class sedan has a lot to offer and is said to enter the market by 2015.
Mercedes-Benz produced its first C-class sedan in the year 1993. Until the year 1997 it remained as the smallest car in its lineup. Things changed after the arrival of its A class. The second generation made its way to the market in the year 2000. The third generation, which is also the most recent one, entered the market in 2007. In between the C-class was replaced by CLC-class only to be taken over by the C-class again.
This latest member in the C-class compact sedan is having a whole new look. The body is exhibiting an optional grille which is endorsing a 3 pointed star and new air vents offering a strong and well defined look. The new car will be available as convertible, coupe and station wagon variants in addition to the sedan platform. Like the earlier C-class cars, this too offers a rear wheel drive but it has the scope of being modified to an all wheel drive.
The bonnet will house a a 4 cylinder 1.6 litre petrol engine, boosting it with a power of 256 hp. The newer AMG version might be equipped with an additional V6 turbo charged engine. The car will have a 7-speed auto transmission in addition to a 6 speed manual transmission. The car also has an improved navigation assistance that will add to the driving experience.
The C-class can be expected anytime in the year 2015. With this car under test drives, the company is already planning to work on its plug-in and diesel hybrids.
