When it comes to GT terminology, Volkswagen Polo with the GTI badge fares better than rest of the rivals. As quite adequate in size and peppiness appeal on outers makes it to put up the persona of workhorse. Well, for a more precise saying, the new Polo – that was unveiled to the world some days back – now gets a GTI variant at the Paris Motor Show 2014.
The new GT hatchback had gained remarkable changes on the cosmetic and technical front both. LED running lights, (optional) LED headlamps, sportier front bumper, red accents on front grille and honeycomb mesh inputs, differently designed 17-inch alloys and dual exhausts to name them.
The interiors are mostly carried over with sport seats, contrasting stitches and more. The official words of VW confirm it to be similar of the elder sibling Golf GTI.
The major changes on the technical note are sport-tuned suspension that will come to its original color at the push of a button. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard along with the infotainment system, while the 7-speed DSG gearbox to be offered optional.
Under the hoods a fresh engine option is added i.e. 1.8-liter TSI petrol, which is a replacement of 1.4-liter TSI. The outcome from new powerplant yields 192PS and 320NM of torque, 12PS more than the predecessor, with the 0-100km/h sprint crossed in 6.7 seconds and 236 km/h of top-speed.
Launch in Europe is going to happen soon with deliveries stated to commence in February.
