Land Rover has started accepting bookings for the fifth-generation Discovery. The car goes on sale in November 2017 with prices starting from Rs.68.05 lakh. The new Discovery made its global debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The styling of the model incorporates design elements like a stepped roofline and short overhangs.
The SUV also gets a split tailgate and seven seats. The new Discovery will be available in S, SE, HSE, HSE Luxury and First Edition variants with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit is a 2,995cc, V6 producing 335 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque @ 3,500-5,000 rpm. The diesel engine is a 2,993cc, V6 that develops 255 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 600 Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. Both engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV is equipped with a four-wheel drive system and Terrain Response 2. Other features include engine start/stop, hill descent control, hill start assist, roll stability control, emergency brake assist, parallel-park assist, gradient acceleration control, ABS and traction control. The SUV is also equipped with a sunroof, 10-inch infotainment screen, 6 or 10 or 14-speaker audio system depending on the variant, head-up display and 360-degree camera.
