The third generation Touareg SUV has been revealed by Volkswagen. This time, Volkswagen has pushed the Touareg further into the ‘premium’ category with the addition of certain features and design changes.
The new Touareg will carry a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine generating 278hp of peak output and 599Nm of peak torque. A 3.0-liter petrol engine with h 330hp and 450Nm of torque would be introduced later on. In certain markets like China, a plug-in hybrid will also be introduced. All engine options are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new Touareg is built on the same MLB platform as the Porsche Cayenne, but doesn’t really share any design similarity with it. Features of the new Touareg include 15-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. The customisable infotainment screen, smartphone integration, air conditioning and seat massage functions. Standard equipment includes LED lighting, multi-coloured interior LED lighting and a 1,270mm long sliding panoramic roof.
