The naked version of the Ninja 400 called the Z400 is being developed by Kawasaki. News is, the bike could well be launched in India.
The Z400’s existence came to light when Kawasaki filed emission documents with the California Air Resources Board, where the Z400 was mentioned as ER400DK. Anyone who is familiar with Kawasaki terminologies would know ER stands of naked in Kawasaki parleys. Another bike which was mentioned in those documents was the Z300.
When it comes to specs, we can expect the Z400 to be similar to the Ninja 400. Engine and transmission could well be the same as the faired Ninja, which is the 349cc 49Hp liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. Just like the Ninja 400, the Z400 is supposed to get a conventional telescopic fork and a monoshock. For now, there is no clarity on an Indian launch. However, given Kawasaki’s push for a larger portfolio, there’s a chance this bike could make it here as well.
