MG Motor India has introduced their Hector and Hector Plus with a new eight-speed CVT automatic transmission. The new CVT automatic gearbox on both the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs will be mated to their petrol engines and will be available alongside the DCT already on offer.
The CVT automatic transmission is available on the Smart & Sharp variants of both the Hector and Hector Plus models.
The MG Hector Petrol-CVT trims are offered with a price tag of Rs 16.52 lakh (Smart) and Rs 18.10 lakh (Sharp). Similarly, the MG Hector Plus petrol-CVT trims are priced at Rs 17.22 lakh and Rs 18.90 lakh for the Smart and Sharp variants, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
As mentioned before, the CVT automatic transmission will be sold alongside the DCT gearbox on the petrol versions of the SUV. Prices for both the CVT and DCT trims are identical, although MG Motor India states that the CVT-equipped models will offer better efficiency, comfort and an overall smoother drive.
To reiterate the engine specifications, both Hector and Hector Plus SUVs come powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. It produces 141bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The CVT gearbox will add to the lineup of a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT already on offer.
There is also a 2.0-litre diesel engine on offer on the Hector range. This engine produces 170bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. However, the diesel engine continues to be offered with just the standard six-speed manual option.
Apart from the addition of the CVT transmission unit on the Hector range, no other changes have been made. The MG Hector range comes with three seating options: five-seater Hector, along with the six and seven-seater Hector Plus SUVs.
The MG Hector five-seater SUV received a facelift update in the Indian market, earlier this year. The 2021 Hector came packed with a host of new features, cosmetic changes and other subtle revisions inside as well.
