Close on the heels of reporting that Skoda have enjoyed a jump start as far as sales for January 2011 are concerned, Volkswagen India have rolled out their 50,000th car. This feat was achieved in the company’s manufacturing unit in Pune, Chakan to be precise. The recently launched and high selling Volkswagen Vento is the 50,000th thousand vehicle. As of now, the plant produces 2 Volkswagen products namely the Vento as well as its hatchback sibling, the Polo. The third one is the Skoda Fabia.
We had reported yesterday how the Fabia is very much in demand especially after its revamp and now the Polo as well as Vento seem to be enjoying the attention of the Indian car buying public. There is already a huge waiting list for both. Volkswagen had invested about Rs 3800 crores for setting up this plant and bringing it up to capacity. Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen, Dr Arno Antlitz has mentioned that the company is elated to the fact that Volkswagen’s products have been received with open arms in India. He stressed on the fact that the company is trying its best to reduce the waiting periods experienced for its products and will achieve all their targets in the year 2011. He also thanked all his employees who put in an extra effort to ensure that the company stayed at the top of the heap in this vigorous competition.
