Adrian Sutil of Force India achieved the ninth position at the European GP that brought in two points for the team. Meanwhile, Paul di Resta, also for Force India finished at 14th position in the race in Valencia, Spain, however he finished outside the points bracket and thus did not qualify for any points.
Sutil began on the 10th position on grid, had started from the same position in the Australian GP. Last month, the racer had his best performance in the season at the Monaco GP. Paul di Resta, meanwhile, started out at the 12 position on grid, and remained in the points contention place till lap no.47 in 57th lap race, he however, dropped back following the final and third pit stop.
Both di Resta and Sutil managed to gain place during the opening lap, by overtaking two drivers from the Renault team to have a good start. Sutil overtook from Nick Heidfield, while Resta overtook Vitali Petrov. There was a tightly contested match between, Nick and Sutil throughout the race. After the race’s first pit stop, Sutil was rejoined the race at the 14th position, but managed to reach the 8th position. Di Resta also reached inside the top ten position, however slid back to the 14th spot.
Sutil was very happy with his effort. He also praised Alguersuari of Toro Rosso for having a good race nearing the end. He said that during the final stop, he came out from behind Alguersuari, and tried to overtake him, however, but it was not easy in the DRS zone and managed to only reach the 9th position.
Di Resta, said that they decided not to take the first stop early that cost him a lot of time. He said, that he doesn’t think they got their strategy right this time. During his first stint in just a few laps, his tyres cam off and plus they didn’t stop early. They made up in the second stop; however he lost out again during the final. It is hard when the tyres come off; as it cost about 2 ½ seconds every lap.
