The all new Mercedes Benz GLS has been unveiled. The car is based on Mercedes’s MHA platform and would sit right at the top of the carmaker’s SUV offering. In terms of design, the new GLS has received major changes compared to its predecessor. The car now has a more rounded appearance and appears sleeker.
According to Mercedes, the new design improves aerodynamic efficiency of the car and helps in reducing wind noise at high speeds. On the inside, car has been completely overhauled. Interior features include Mercedes’ new MBUX infotainment system which consists of a 12.3-inch screen above the centre console and a new steering wheel with touchpad on upper spokes.
Mechanically, the car would be available in both petrol and diesel guise. The diesel engine would be a 330HP 2.9-litre, in-line, six-cylinder, turbocharged OM 656 motor, while the petrol engine would be a 489 HP 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 along with a 48 volts mild hybrid system.
