Ashok Leyland, country’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, is planning to increase its presence in the fast growing Utility Vehicle segment. The home grown auto major showcased its MPV Stile that is mainly based on the Nissan Evalia. The MPV was expected to hit the market by the end of 2012, but due to some reason its launch was delayed. It is also said that the new upcoming Stile MPV will be placed below the Nissan Evalia in the terms of pricing in the segment.
According to AutoCarPro Ashok Leyland’s Stile MPV will be revealed in the Indian market on July 16, 2013. There are also rumors in the market that vehicle might be launched during the festive season of Dushera and Diwali. The vehicle will be selling in two variant, diesel and CNG. It is also expected that Utility Vehicle might be blessed with the 1.5 litre Renault sourced K9K turbocharged diesel engine. This is the same engine that is also present in the Nissan Evalia. The diesel trim can churn out maximum power of 85 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. The engine is coupled with the five speed manual gearbox.
The Ashok Leyland’s Stile has been spotted a number of times during the test run. The vehicle basically looks similar to Evalia which is elegant and has appeared with the more traditional looking grille whereas the headlamp and the air duct are now smaller than its brother Evalia. Look wise there are much to compare with the Evalia but it would be better to see if Stile will be able to gain some good sale as it already known that Evalia is not doing any good for Nissan.
