Another British company has entered the Indian automobile market after Jaguar Land Rover and it is Mr Bond’s car. Yes, Aston Martin have made their presence felt in the Indian subcontinent last Friday. Only this time, its not Shreyans Motors who would be the official importers of this cars but it is Infiniti Motors. It is a whopping total of 5 cars that would be present in Aston’s Indian lineup of cars. Moreover, included in this 5 car lineup is the limited hypercar edition named the One-77. Only 5 cars are yet to be sold out of the 77 that have been made globally. The cost is also a staggering Rs 20 crores. Next up is the Aston Martin Rapide considered as one of the world’s fastest 4 door cars. The Rapide gets four seats, four doors, sports car like performance and also a sizable boot. It also produces 470 Bhp of peak power at 6000 rpm and a good 61.24 kgm of torque from its 6 liter V12 engine. This power is enough to propel this nearly two tonne car from 0-100 kmph in only 4.8 seconds whereas its top speed is an electronically limited 298 kmph. Its price is also a whopping Rs 2.15 crores.
Aston have tied up with the performance wing of Infiniti Motors which is aptly named as Performance Cars. On the launch of the cars in India, Michael van der Sande, the Chief Commercial Officer of Aston Martin India said that he considers India to be an important market after China since the luxury car market here has been growing in double digit figures. He said that Aston Martin would be trying to open as many show rooms as possible in India so that prospective customers don’t feel left out in the process of buying an Aston Martin car. As of now, he said that the company have opened their first show room in Mumbai in Kemp’s Corner and plans are on to open one more show room in Delhi shortly. Managing Director of Performance Cars, Lalit Choudary, said that Performance Cars was proud to be associated with Aston Martin since they represented the epitome of British engineering plus elegance. Moreover, prospective customers would have a first hand taste of what is awaiting them in the Aston Martin fold once they visit the state of the art show room or even the dedicated workshop in Worli.
Other Aston Martin products in India include the Aston DB9, a 2+2 seater car available in both convertible and coupe forms. The price of this car ranges from Rs 1.5 crores to Rs 1.7 crores. This price is on-road, Mumbai. There would also be the V12 engined sportscar named as Virage. It would be priced at Rs 2 crores. The Vantage and the DBS are the other cars to feature in the Aston Martin range for India. The former gets two engine options namely the V8 and V12 engines. The V8 is priced at Rs 1.28 crores whereas the V12 engined car costs upwards of Rs 1.94 crores. The sports car DBS is priced at Rs 2.8 crores. Barring the small car, the Cygnet, Aston is offering its entire range of cars for the Indian customers. Time for some shaken but not stirred nostalgia.
