Audi has been working hard to topple BMW from the top slot in the luxury car market of India. Its latest sedan the Audi A3 could become the ideal tool in helping Audi achieve this ambition. It is, however, being felt that the German car maker is showing the urgency of bringing the sedan out as early as possible in 2012. The car maker has decided not to waste any time to send this present concept car to the production unit. It is being felt by some experts that Audi might be looking for measures of cost cutting with this car in lines with the strategy that BMW follows. The company has however strongly denied such claims.
It is being expected that the Audi A3 is going to be priced very competitively even by the standards of other Audi vehicles so that it can counter the plans of BMW. It also looks like 2012 is going to be great year for the car market as far as offerings from Audi to this market is concerned. The company is also planning to come out with a hybrid variant of its A8 limousine, which could see the light early in 2012. This is going to be followed by an electrical sports car variant of its Audi A8 that is going to come out in the second half of 2012. However, the cars that are on the immediate plans of the car maker are the latest Audi A4 as well as its sedan the Audi A6. Both these cars are expected to feature at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. It is also going to feature its Q3 SUV, which if priced correctly, has all the potential to become a perfect response for the X1 series of BMW. This product is also going to be showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo.
Auto experts are also watching with excitement the steps that Audi is going to take, as far as electric cars are concerned. The car maker has, of late, developed a passion for these cars. It is not very common to see a sports vehicle that has been fitted with a fully electric motor. It has only been Tesla, the company that has certain degree of experience as far as manufacturing of electric cars go, which has put in some amount of work in this segment. All said and done, the product range that Audi is coming up with is clearly indicating that Audi is focused at growing in the Indian market. This is not surprising considering the fact that the company has achieved remarkable growth in 2011 in India, growing more than 80% compared to 2010 figures.
