April had ended and the sales reports of various carmakers had started pouring in, but the Audi had stood frugal in the horizon, past swooping BMW and Mercedes Benz for now with ease. Claiming the phenomenal grip of market share in the recent times, Audi had registered a sale of 770 units for April 2013, with growth of 37% against the sales of same period last year, referring to 562 units in April 2012.
It is not just the month of April that this German carmaker had bumped in so hugely, if viewed on the bigger picture, FY 2012-2013 had witnessed 9350 units sold, an increment of 51.5% against the 6169 units in FY 2011-2012.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. Michael Perschke, Audi India Head said, “We were aiming for the pole position in 2015. To achieve it almost 2 years before the target date is a landslide success. As per reports, we are not only No. 1 in the first quarter of 2013 but the whole of FY 2012-13. India is the first market in Asia after China to claim the No.1 spot. However, I think 2013 will be a very competitive year.”
More to it, Mr. Perschke also added, “Since our entry into India, Audi has tried to reach out to target customers through launch of class-defining models, manpower expansion and strengthening of our dealer network not only in metros, but also in tier II & tier III cities of India,” which means a lot of things to come from the marketing side rather than the new products being lined up for near future.
April 2013 was seems to be the charming month for four ringed badge carmaker, as had introduced, the flagship R8 in V10 Plus avatar and also the second edition of Audi sportscar experience (ASE) at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida.
With the newly opened showroom in South Mumbai, and a one in Lucknow as well, Audi had concreted its portfolio with names like new Audi Q5, new Audi R8, the 2.0 TFSI variant of Q3 and the Audi R8 V10 plus, being made available locally.
Cutting the edged competition, Audi to foray in the interiors of our nation, and hence the Audi sportscar experience for enthusiasts is stretched to the multiple cities here, and also a list of upcoming dealerships to be felt overall at 34 centers from the existing number of 25 points by the end of this year, most probably in Tier II and Tier III cities itself, including Vadodra and Noida amongst others.
