Audi, the German luxury car manufacturing company has swept several automotive awards in India and bagged 15 luxurious awards for 2011 year. After recording highest sales volume for Audi in India to date, Audi A6, Audi A8L, Audi RS5 and Audi A7 have gained top honors of the industry, underlining the company’s essence “Vorsprung durch Technik”.
Audi A8L has maintained a legitimate reputation in the market by providing car enthusiasts with comfort as well as luxury. The fact reinforced by car winning the Import Car of the Year by CNBC TV18 Overdrive Awards and NDTV Car & Bike Awards. The Audi A8L also gained Technology and Innovation Award at Bloomberg UTV Autocar Awards, Premium Luxury Car of the Year by Car India and Bike India Awards and CNB and CB Luxury Sedan award at ET Zigwheels Award – AAA Best Integrated Campaign of the Year by NDTV Car & Bike Awards.

The Audi RS5 was awarded NDTV’s Car & Bike Awards 2012 Performance Car of the Year and Top Gear Magazine’s Car of the Year, while the Audi R8 Spyder wins Cabriolet of the Year by TopGear Magazine Awards. The Audi A7 Sportback gained Automotive Design of the Year, making Audi, one of the most rewarded luxury car manufacturing companies across diverse product segments.
Mr. Michael Perschke, Head at Audi India stated that 2011 year has been the company’s one of the most years in terms of sales that exceeded their expectations. The Audi R8 Spyder, A8 L, business luxury limousine Audi A6 and Audi A7 Sportback, contributed greatly to making 2011, a strongest year in terms of sales in the country. In spite of impressing Awards jury, Audi India has attracted a broad spectrum of people. With more than 430,000 enthusiasts, Audi India has a maximum number of fans on its Facebook page, which is the highest among all luxury car manufacturing firms.
Last year, Audi India posted solid performance with sale of 5511 models, therefore recording impressive growth of 84%. The sales figure of Audi for the month of December 2011 stood at 394 vehicles, the growth of 86% over same period in 2010. In 2011, Audi India opened showrooms in Delhi, Chennai, Surat, Indore and Ludhiana with developments planned in Delhi West, Coimbatore, Mumbai South and Lucknow. Internationally, the company offers over 1,193,100 vehicles to consumers all over the world from January to November 2011, an increase of 18.8% over same period in 2010, which put Audi well on course for reaching its sales target of 1.3 million units.
Audi is the leading automobile manufacturing company in China and Europe, and also one of the quickest growing luxury car brands in India and USA. However, China has overtaken Germany as single largest market for Audi; the marque is in the process of deploying some proven strategies from China to Indian market, on network growth, brand building front and product.

From January till the end of September 2011, Audi posted operating profit of €3.96 billion and revenue of €32.4 billion. The company designs and develops vehicles in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt, Germany, Changchun (China), Brussels (Belgium) and Győr (Hungary). Aurangabad in India saw the start of production of Audi A4 in early October 2008, Audi A6 at the end of 2007, new Audi A6 in June 2011 and Audi Q5 in July 2010. Production of Audi A1 has been running at Brussels plant from May 2010, while production of new A1 Sportback started in 2012.
The wholly owned subsidiaries of Audi AG include Automobili Lamborghini Holding S.p.A. in Sant’Agata Bolognese (Italy), Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm and AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. It currently employs around 63,000 people all over the world, including around 47,900 in Germany. Currently, Audi is expanding its site in Gyor (Hungary) and will begin production in Foshan (China) in 2013. By 2015, it is planning to increase number of models in its lineup to 42.
