Audi India Witnesses 104% Sales Growth in May

German premium car manufacturer, Audi has achieved a noteworthy performance in their sales figures for the month of May. The company managed to sell a total of 408 cars, an impressive increase of 104% compared to the same period last month. In May, 2010, the luxury manufacturer had managed to sell around 200 models.

For the period of January to May, this year, the company managed to sell a total of 2,394 models, an increase of 105% in comparison to the corresponding period last year, when it sold a total of 1,167 cars. The head of Audi India, Michael Perschke, said that they attribute their strong growth in sales to their philosophy of thinking ahead of curve, as well as their ability of bringing progressive and innovative products in India.

Their strong growth, in spite of increasing price of fuel coupled with interest rates, shows the strength of their brand and the pull of their products. Their newly launched A7 Sportback and the RS5 received an enthusiastic response from their customers pan India. Their new Audi A6 model which will arrive in India soon will further aid in strengthening their position in India’s luxury car market. He added that he was confident that because of dealer support and loyal customers, this year will be defining for them in India.

Audi India have undertaken an aggressive strategy for 2011, launching a range of class defining vehicles, starting first with A8 L super sports model, the R8 Spyder, the R8 V10, the RS5 CoupĂ© and lastly the A7 Sportback. The luxury brand also continues to lead in India’s luxury SUV market with their Q7 and Q5 models, and the super sports vehicles market with their iconic R8.

Audi has continued to maintain its leadership position in global markets such as China and Europe, being the fastest growing car brand in India and USA. While China overtook Germany, as the biggest Audi market, Audi is deploying their established strategies from their Chinese market to India, like their quality growth of network, product offensive and robust brand building practice.

Audi India meanwhile will carry on strengthening their dealer network pan-India. Audi is present in thirteen different locations pan India. These include Mumbai West, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Kochi and Jaipur. Further locations, where Audi could be present soon include Mumbai South, Lucknow, Indore, Delhi West, Coimbatore and Surat. Audi India’s portfolio includes the R8 Spyder, the R8, the RS5, the Q7, the Q5, the A7, the A6 and the A4.
