Although the Indian market has brought bad news for most of the car manufacturers, it has worked for Audi. The performance report revealed by this luxury car maker showed that this year in the month of June, Audi has seen an increase of 4% in its sales. Talking about the year 2013, January to June, it has seen an increase of a whole 21% in its sales as compared to the last year. To maintain its hold over the market, Audi has launched a new sports car, Audi S6 in India. It is being offered at a price of Rs 85.99 lacs.
The Audi S6 is a sporty version of the Audi A6. The initial Audi S6 was launched right after the launch of Audi A6 in the year 1994. Since then various generations of the S6 have entered the market. The latest of the series, C7 model Audi S6, went under production last year. It gets the tag C7 because it is using Volkswagen’s C7 platform. This car has now entered the Indian market.
Audi S6 is a power packed car with a V8 engine along with an option to use a 4 cylinder drive. The engine has a fuel capacity of 4 litres. The car is capable of producing a power output of 420 bhp in the range of 5500 rpm to 6400 rpm. This S6 can complete the transition of 0 kmph to 100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds.
Like most of the Audi sports car, S6 too uses its Quattro all wheel drive system for extreme stability. Some other features that have been added to this car include adaptive sport air suspension, MMI touch, quad exhaust pipes. The vehicle offers a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
The car exhibits some hi end technology which makes it more aggressive than other sports car like Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8. The car shows a perfect blend of power, comfort and safety for city driving. The car also has a COD technology (cylinder on demand) which can turn off 4 of the 8 cylinders. This lowers the emission and offers better fuel efficiency to the car.
Head of Audi India, Michael Perschke has said that “The S6 redefines the benchmark yet again in its segment, while upholding and building on Audi’s sporting legacy. We are now happy to add the Audi S6 to our portfolio after the launch of the new Audi RS 5 Coupe earlier this month. With these launches, I am confident of consolidating our leadership position even further.”
Audi presently has 26 dealerships in the country. It plans to increase it to 34 by the end of 2013. The company has opened new Audi dealerships in Mumbai South, Bhubaneswar and Lucknow in 2013.
