Audi is looking towards expanding its SUV line-up and is planning to introduce a new flagship SUV that will stand above the Q7 in the product line up. According to the sources, the vehicle will be hiring style inspired from Range Rover and will be badged as Q8. The interiors of the vehicle will be quite luxurious and will be at par with the company’s A8.
According to the Audi’s technical chief Wolfgang Durheimer, SUVs are currently biggest priority for the company and an SUV bigger than Q7 is the something that is currently on the top of the company’s mind. He also said that a bigger SUV can easily fit in to the current offering of the company and it has already learnt from Bentley what can be done with a car of that size. He also said that he pushed for the Bentley and now he is pushing forward Audi to come up with something in that segment also. He further said that currently Bentley is also making SUVs, Audi is also building SUVs and now Lamborghini has also appeared with its SUV. Lamborghini is also under the direct control of Audi. He also said that he is further encouraging Lamborghini SUV for its success.
He also said that to overcome with the internal competition the models will not be overlapping each other. There is no restrictions on Volkswagen on market and price strategy as long has it is having its business. He also said that Audi Q2 compact SUV is also on the top priority. The only thing that can limit these future models will be the R&D budgets and engineering or man power limitations.
