After the Quattro, Audi is reigning in e-tron to its production specific models.
Apart from the Frankfurt debuts, Audi has confirmed of debuting the Q7 e-tron version sometimes before the next generation Q7 arrives in 2015. This piece of information was revealed by the Audi Australia managing director Andrew Doyle, at the launch of a local advertising campaign.
Already shown us the A1 e-tron concept, similarly Q7 e-tron will use the rotary-powered engine in tandem with an electric motor.
And when asked about the R8 going the e-tron way, Doyle answered, “I don’t see it as a major thing for us. We’ll launch with A3, followed by Q7…”
For your information, A3 e-tron was unveiled with a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine combined with 75kW electric motor, delivering the total output of 204hp. The Q7 e-tron may receive a more powerful drivetrain where we expect Porsche Panamera’s 3.0-liter V6 gasoline and electric motor configuration to be shared with the Audi’s SUV too.
There aren’t further official confirmations made by the automaker on the upcoming badge, but we can only keep the momentum ticking closely, and also our eyes roving in the arena of spy shots.
