2012 Auto Expo will witness the emergence of sport utility vehicles as watch-outs at week long exposition starting on 5th January 2012. Numerous sport utility vehicles will occupy the centre-stage for display, which includes new along with redesigned sport utility vehicles that are set to run on the roads of India in near future. The models, which will be launched at 2012 Auto Expo, include Ssangyong, Korean manufacturer’s Korando and Rexton, Audi Q3 Mini, new Tata Safari codename Merlin, Renault Duster, Ford Eco Sport and Mercedes Benz M-Class. Apart from these, there are redesigned models as well, including Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Force Motors Force One. Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki will also be revealing their two new concept sport utility vehicles.
Mr. Abdul Majeed, automotive analyst who tracks automotive industry at PricewaterhouseCoopers, India said that the Sport Utility Vehicle category in India has witnessed fantastic growth in the last couple of years and holds maximum potential in terms of Demand. The sport utility vehicle segment has emerged as focus class at 2012 Auto Expo. Also the enhanced road connectivity between towns has contributed to the rising demand for these truck based models. The automobile manufacturing companies are trying their best for capturing the rising demand for small sport utility vehicles in the country; Renault Duster is one such example, which is essentially the rebadged version of Dacia’s product.
The luxury automakers such as BMW and Audi will introduce their X1 Series carrying a price tag of Rs. 22.4 lakhs and Q3 Sport Utility Vehicle slated for the introduction sometime in mid 2012.
