India is not the only nation that has welcome Renault Duster or Dacia Duster with open arms and broad smiles. It has been a successful car all in almost all of its markets. One nation that truly adores the Dacia Duster is the United Kingdom. Renault had designed a new Black Edition of Renault Duster to join the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It received a great response at the fest and now the car has been launched in the UK.
Dacia Duster is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was launched by Dacia in the year 2010 in Europe. It was unveiled a year before on 8th December 2009. This car is also called as Renault Duster. This car utilizes the Dacia B0 platform and is a 5 door compact SUV. The car houses an engine in the front and comes in 2 variants offering front wheel drive and all wheel drive. Dacia was launched in UK in the year 2012 and it made an entry into the Indian market in the same year on 4th July. In India it is available at a price of Rs 7.19 lacs.
In UK the car has already bagged 4000 orders till date and is one of the most successful cars. The Black Edition version is a lot more aggressive than the original Duster. It is based on Ambiance DCI 110 model and will be made available only as 4×2 model. This new version is offering an array of new features like its perfectly masculine black vinyl wrap finishing. The interior too has been perfectly matched with the use of ash coloured leather seat covers. The interior also offers Kenwood hi tech media system that also has a high resolution 6 inch screen, Garmin navigation system which offers TMC traffic info, DAB, Bluetooth feature allowing hands free calls, DVD playback, USB connection etc. The car also endorses 18 inch all alloy wheels.
This car is in true sense ‘value for money’ as all the above mentioned features come for a price of £17,575 which is Rs 15.9 lacs. It gives the other manufacturers a tough time with its competitive pricing. Though created just to celebrate the Festival of Speed, but demands placed by the UK customers compelled the company to launch the car commercially in the market. The company will start with the car deliveries October onwards.
Marketing Director- Dacia UK, Mr. Phil York said that “The Dacia Duster Black Edition is
a mean, more upmarket version of what is already a great selling vehicle. I challenge anybody to drive home such a great looking SUV, with or without 4×4, with so much kit for anywhere near the money.”
The company is also planning a facelift for the original Duster. They are testing various prototypes all across Europe to decide the best look for their car. The facelifted Renault Duster might make an appearance at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show going to be held in September this year.
