German cues are filling all the gaps in India, and after the Mercedes Benz A Class it is now the 1 Series of BMW which is said to be launched here on 3rd September 2013.
Though already the X1 filled in the compact SUV yet starting point of Bavarian repertoire here, but a lower addition to it will make the brand more lucrative than before to perform its operations competitively.
BMW looks not in a mood to delay. It is said to sell the luxury hatchback in India with petrol as well as diesel options. And the powering of engine bay would be initially drawn from 1.6L turbocharged direct injected petrol motor of 136hp being driven from Mini Cooper and Cooper S; whereas the 1997cc diesel engine of the other BMW models will aspire 143hp to cope up sales of the A Class with an added edge.
Both the motors will use 8-speed automatic gearbox to provide traction on rear wheels, specifically for BMW India it is said to tweak the suspension as well for embarking its niche statement with the crumbling Indian roads.
Chennai plant of the German carmaker to finally shoot the production of 1 Series from the initial days itself, complementing it are the recent spy shots that confirms 1 Series had landed on our shores.
The car is expected to fetch a price tag of Rs. 20-25 lakh at the time of launch.
