BMW 1 Series, the immediate rival of Mercedes Benz A Class , and other such starting level of luxury carmakers here, is reportedly said to have arrived at the dealerships in India to give in a good nightmare to the sales of its opponents in its own stringing slip. The spy shots available with our friends at IndianAutosBlog tell us so.
However, it is said to be rolled out in the CBU (completely built units) during initial days of its launch. Engine specification tends to remain same with the 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol, and the 2.0-liter diesel which is fitted in the 3 Series base variants of 5 Series in India.
Turbocharged gasoline will produce 136bhp and 220Nm along with fuel efficiency package of 16.28km/l as per ARAI, while oil burners have to do its daunting task with the 143bhp and 320Nm of peak torque escorted by 20.58kpl fuel economy. Both the jags will use the available 8-speed gearbox, but it is not clear that pricing will fit on which of the slot between Rs. 20-25 lakh range.
Sunroof and some of the other interior cosmetics like 6.5-inch iDrive display, auto start-stop function, electric driver seat with memory function etc. will also make to the India specific 1 Series version.
Lastly, one have to wait until 3rd September 2013 to reveal all the suspense officially by the German carmaker BMW itself.
