BMW 1 Series was awaited for India since the Mercedes Benz launched its A Class here. However, it is being made locally at the BMW’s Chennai plant, the German carmaker had priced it for Rs. 20.90 lakh.
The following are the price schedule which the BMW had made available for respective of the variants mentioned:
- BMW 116i (petrol): Rs. 20.90 lakh
- BMW 118d (diesel): Rs. 22.90 lakh
- BMW 118d Sport (diesel): Rs. 25.90 lakh
- BMW 118d Sport Plus (diesel): Rs. 29.90 lakh
However, the cricket Master-Blaster Sachin Tendulakar and F! driver Armaan Ebrahim were also present at the launch.
Meanwhile, we learnt that the Bavarian carmaker had made us the 1 Series available in one petrol variant, and three diesel variant to commemorate the most of Indian audience who are tempting oil burners in the times of rising fuel prices. Rear-wheel drive, 8-speed automatic transmission, iDrive with Eco-Pro mode are some of the impressive tweaks the one will get in the 1 Series to save a lot on the fuel consumption.
1995cc BMW TwinTurbo diesel engine of BMW stands frugal in the 1 Series and does justice to its job with 143Hp and 320NM of torque along with 0-100km/h in just 8.6 seconds and 212km/h of top whack. Whereas, the 1598cc TwinTurbo four-cylinder petrol engine possess power of 136 horses and does 0-100km/h in just 8.7 seconds with the top speed of 210km/h. The fuel-efficiency figures of petrol motor senses 16.28km/l while the diesel ones deliver 20.58km/l.
