BMW trademarks several names expanding E, i and M series

It is not the first time that an auto manufacturer trademarks bossy names to reveal the future lineup. But as we’ve seen, not all of these models actually see the daylight. Gladly for us, it gives us a glimpse of what’s on the table at Munich, where BMW has trademarked several names from its future lineup.

BMW trademarks several names expanding E, i and M series

BMW had already announced an M1 car that will be a sportier version of the 1 Series. The German automaker’s US subsidiary recently announced that there is a strong possibility of the M7 coming in 2015. This will be the sporty version of flagship luxury sedan, 7 Series. As for M10, we wonder if it will ever see daylight, but if it does, its surely going to be one heck of a machine.

The 2 Series Active Tourer will be the next Gran Coupe and there is also a possibility it may appear as sports-ute crossover.

Some of the most fascinating names on the chart, the M300 and M400 are M Performance models that will bridge the gap between the 3 series and 4 series performance cars. The M35, M40, M55 names would be M Performance models for X and Z series cars.

Moving down on chart, Compactive Tourer, Gran Tourer and Urbanic suggest names of a new breed of Front-wheel-drive BMW vehicles that have previously been rumored.

BMW also filed E1 to E9 series, which suggests it has a series of Electric Vehicles lined up for future. In addition, the i1 to i9 series reveal the German automaker’s plan to expand its iConcept cars, starting with the i6 coupe.

The trademark also include a more familiar name, the Z8. It was a spectacular roadster in the BMW lineup that failed to impress the buyers. From the filings, a redesigned Z8 car maybe in works for future.

While some names give butterflies in stomach, others rather create confusion. For now, it is too early to put you money on any of these models.
