The love affair of SUV for India is simply fresh but the German were already selling it in other markets for many years, with one such genuine example completed 15 years recently. The X5 that took the Bavarians to compete against the Mercedes-Benz M-Class which was launched 2 years ahead of them, managed to post some immaculate numbers in the past 15 years.
To be specific, Bavarian Motor Works launched X5 in 1999 and sold more than 620,000 units of the first-generation model.
Complementing the first crossover genre of it badge, BMW also rolled-out whole line of X mentioning them as X1, X3, X4 & X6. Hence, the popularity of X-Series rose to such a height that company has sold more than 3.3 million of X model plate and almost one-third of all the BMWs sold are of the X repertoire.
