Bugatti extended its order for the unique seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox for Veyron till the end of 2014. This masterpiece is the creation of Ricardo and also the state of art engineering for the auto industry. It takes a mere transmission time of less than 150 milliseconds for both manual and automatic modes. Gear guise can also stand intact to a power of 1,200 horses.
Previously, a rumor was circling in the industry that the carmaker is working on a new transmission which is expected to drop the grueling time of the world’s fastest car by 1.8 seconds in 0-60 range. This expectation has now become flat-headed.
In other words it can be said that Ricardo’s engineering doesn’t come easy. Bugatti charges a pocket drilling amount of $120,000 if asked for the replacement and that too excluding installations.
