Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming premium hatchback YRA has been spotted undergoing high altitude testing in Shimla. The car that was spotted had been camouflaged and has normal steel wheels instead of the more premium alloy wheels, which means it is an entry level version of the car.
As far as the look of the YRA is concerned previous pictures show that it looks like something that has been born out of wedlock of Maruti S-Cross and Kizashi. The frontal grille has a honeycomb design with V-shaped chromed outline. The car will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variants will come with either a 1.2-liter or a 1.4-liter of Maruti’s famed K-series engine, while the diesel one might come with a 1.3-liter MultiJet engine.
Maruti’s ingenious AMT transmissions will also be used in these cars, but certain variants might see a manual 5-speed gearbox. And it will be the second Maruti product which will be sold through its NEXA line of showrooms after the S-Cross.
The YRA is expected to be priced competitively. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
