Maruti Suzuki has been one of the best selling car manufacturers of the country. The company always aims to launch cars, which are low in cost and have a low cost of maintenance, which automatically attracts the masses. Though Maruti A-Star had done fairly well in the market, the company is ready to replace the car with the upcoming Celerio.
Currently Maruti has launched the first official teaser of the Celerio. The car will come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The new technology of the car is being marketed by the name of EZ DRIVE.
AMT technology is said to make the car more fuel efficient than the regular manual technology and it will be the first time that this technology will be introduced in the Indian market. This system has been developed by Magneti Marelli, which is explained as manual gears with clutchless transmission. The technology is based on the hydraulic system and an electronic control unit, which controls gear shifting and the clutch. This new system allows the driver to change gears, either fully automatically or sequentially even without using the clutch.
Like the engine of A-Star and Alto K10, the Celerio is also powered by the same K-series, 1.0-litre two-cylinder engine. Particularly in the case of Maruti Celerio, the AMT technology is said to make the car five percent more efficient than what it would usually be. The production model of Celerio is expected to make its first appearance at the 2014 Auto Expo.
