Chevrolet plans to expand its fan following network globally by signing as an official automotive partner for one of the greatest football club, Manchester United.
As a part of the world’s greatest football league, English Premier League, Manchester United gets exposure to fans around the world, and the followers in Asia are increasing exponentially.
One of the club’s officials announced that there are about 659 million Manchester United fans around the globe.
Chevrolet has been appointed as the official automotive partner for the club for five-years, and the deal may extend depending on the results.
“Manchester United has some of the most passionate supporters of any sporting club in the world,” General Motor’s global marketing chief, Joel Ewanick said at an announcement in Shanghai, China, earlier today. “The Chevrolet family is proud to partner with Manchester United and is fully committed to putting these fans at the center of everything we do.”
We recently reported about General Motors backing out its investments on Facebook ads. As a result, the company has few extra bucks to shed in advertisement, and ManU certainly reaches out wide.
After exploring various models under its Chevrolet portfolio, GM is making attempts to improve the brand image through new marketing strategy. And we can expect positive results, as Chevrolet previously sold 4.76 million units globally in over 140 countries. The new deal will bring fans closer to the game than ever.
