Chevrolet has now added the base variant to its Sail U-VA diesel line-up known as Sail PS.Looking at the high demand of diesel vehicles in the Indian market, Chevrolet wants to grab a bigger chunk of the cake.
The Chevrolet Sail U-VA is currently placed against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 hatchback and with the new base variant Chevrolet is hoping to push the sales figures upwards. The Indian obsession for the diesel vehicle is quite evident, the rise in the petrol prices has pushed customers to move towards alternative sources and diesel tops the list.
The vehicle has inherited most of its features from its bigger siblings, but being a base level variant it compromises on the features list. The entry level vehicle now comes with the basic comfort features such as the power windows, air conditioner, electrically operated wing mirrors, tilt steering and fabric seats. The vehicle also comes with the standard safety features like EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). If you look at the other cars present in the segment, most of them are offering almost the same specs.
The vehicle is powered by the 1.3 litre diesel engine sourced from Fiat that is coupled with the F17 gearbox with the ratios tuned specially to suit Indian conditions. The Sail UV-A PS comes with a price tag of Rs. 5.29 lakhs (price is of ex-showroom Delhi). It will be competing against the market leader Maruti Suzuki Swift and with a price about Rs. 30,000 less that the Swift LDi it seems a rather good option.
