Chevrolet recently won the top three awards in a study carried out by JD Power & Associates for the year 2010. The brand won this award in the Vehicle Dependability Study and the India Auto Initial Quality Study.
Whereas the Chevrolet Spark won the award for Best Compact Car in Initial Quality and Most Dependable Compact Car, the Aveo, also from the same brand, won the award for Most Dependable Car in Premium Compact Car category.
According to JD Power & Associates, this is Chevrolet Spark’s fourth successive year of winning the top prize in the study for quality. These successive victories only validate the efficiency and popularity of the Spark in India, and the commitment of Chevrolet’s parent company, GM India to develop international standard vehicles for the Indian auto market.
The VP of GM India, P Balendran said on the win that these prestigious awards from the market research company, JD Power clearly repeat that Chevrolet is one of the preferred auto brands in the industry in regards to customer delight, dependability and quality. These wins reinforce their strong focus that they, as a company, have in regards to producing quality after sales and sales service, dispatch, check, build, parts and design to provide best quality products that exceed and meet expectations of their customers.
They will continue leveraging the momentum they have gained so far as well as build on their product’s inherent strengths in future as well. The IQS study carried out by JD Power, and serves as an industry benchmark in regards to quality of new vehicles, is measured in 2 to 6 months ownership period.
The VDS study meanwhile, is a benchmark to assess the long run dependability of the vehicle, which is measured from an ownership period of three years. The India IQS 2010 is currently in its 14th year. It was based upon evaluations from above 7,000 owners in 20 Indian cities, who bought a new model from Nov ’09 to July ’10. This comprised of 57 models covering 13 different manufacturers.
Meanwhile, the VDS was based upon evaluations from about 5,824 original car owners across 20 Indian cities, who bought the new cars from July ’06 to Oct ’07, spanning 46 car models covering 13 different manufacturers.
