It looks like Citroen is quite busy during the Beijing Auto Show as the French automobile manufacturer will launch its DS line to the Chinese. For emphasizing the event, the company will be introducing its newest DS concept, the Numero 9. Developed and designed in Paris, it is the company’s interpretation of shooting brake body style that’s fundamentally a love child between an estate and a coupe. Since it’s a part of DS line, the Numero 9 gains all of the radical styling, including the signature grille and floating roof along with proportions purposely engineered for contributing to its aerodynamic efficiency that’s rated at a CdA of 0.61.
The Citroen Numero 9’s dimensions include 1940 mm wide, 1270 mm tall, a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and 1270 mm tall. The sheet metal gets subtle hints of violet on deep black bodywork. The finishing is known as Whisper that the company calls it a perfect match for the warmer Californian chrome finish. It uses a Creative Technologie, which endows the vehicle with a combination of safety, respect and comfort for the environment. The powertrain comprises a traditional diesel or petrol powerplant with an electric generator, which drives the rear axle. The generator pumps out 70 horsepower with 200 newton meters of torque and is propelled by lithium ion batteries, which can be recharged in only 3.5 hours from the standard home socket. Citroen will be showcasing the Numero 9 with a 1.6 THP petrol powerplant, which churns out 225 horsepower with 275 newton meters of torque.
According to the company, the Citroen Numero 9 offers a range of 50 kilometers in all-electric mode and utilizes both sources of energy for moving in usual city situations. On cruiseways, the combustion powerplant works full time for delivering performance. You will also find a ‘boost’ function, which adds the power of the electric generator for providing more power, up to 295 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in the time range of 5.4 seconds. The driver can manually select four-wheel drive mode if situations get too difficult. I guess we will have to wait for a while for more information, which will be revealed when it is completely revealed.
