Dacia Duster remained favorites for locales in Europe, as they are given to enjoy a slice of SUV for the cost that can be called as worlds cheapest of the category.
However, the aspirations don’t settles even when what was desired is achieved. Here, with the buyers, after admiring the Duster over an extent, they are deemed of having a pickup version of the same apparently in that similar price-band. But the Romanian automaker isn’t in the mood to do so, except for an assorted client named “OMV Petrom”.
The largest oil company of Romania has ordered for 500 units of Duster pickup, of which the first 10 units are delivered, while the rest will be completed till 2015.
These Duster pickups were built by the coach-builder Romturingia.
On the technical side, Duster pickups are based on the facelift version in the configuration of 4×4 with 110PS from a 1.5L DCi. The front two-seats are retained intact, whereas the rear-row and boot space is now converted in the flat-bed. The bed measures 1.7 m/67 inches in length and is capable of carrying 450 kg/882 lbs.
However, the company had officially denied of pulling the pickup to mass production, but anyone who wished of having such a possession can had it done from Romturingia by shelling out additional 3000 Euros after rolling it out from the showroom.
Hence, certain tweaking like reinforcement for the seat from outer is providing SUV an additional strength. Must say, it will be interesting to see how the interiors looks now, whether those technical gimmicks are retained or chopped off from the list keeping in mind utility at core.
