Ford is planning to launch a new face lifted version of its Fiesta in the next year in India. This model which will enter into the Indian market will be sharing the same platform with the Ford Fiesta’s European model. The present model of Ford Fiesta was launched in India in the year 2011 and the car did not create any significant image for itself. The masses gave a very lukewarm response to this car and this can be the most probable reason for launching a facelifted version of this car. This new model will receive several updates and styling tweaks which will be prominent at the front fascia. The car will see a re-designed grille in front of the car. This new grille has chrome slats and looks similar to the one we see on high end models.
The new model looks comparatively more sporting and showcases new fog lights which give the car a more modish look as compared to the present model of Fiesta. The bonnet on this model endorses some edgy creases as well as newly designed head lights. This headlight stretches to the back of the bonnet. Looking at the side profile, the car looks similar to the present model of Ford Fiesta. Although the car has received several modifications on the A and B pillar.
Coming to the rear of the car, there are modified tail lights which are now elongated and are of a better quality than the ones on the present model. Talking about the engine specs of this upcoming model, it is most likely that the same powertrain will be carried forward. The new model of Ford Fiesta will offer the same performance parameters as that of the present model. This means that the car will be powered by the same petrol engine of 1.5 liter capacity which churns out a maximum power of 107 bhp and a maximum torque of 140 Nm. In addition to this, the new facelifted model will also be available as the diesel trim. This variant will offer a diesel variant which will be capable of producing a maximum power of 89 bhp and a torque of 204 Nm. The petrol variant of this new model will offer an option of either 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed auto transmission. The diesel model will come only with 5 speed manual gearbox.
The most important factor which will decide the fate of this 2014 model of Ford Fiesta is the company’s pricing strategy. It has been found out that Ford India will be launching this new variant at a super aggressive price of Rs 7 lacs only. This new Ford Fiesta will join the company’s line in the mid size segment. Hence it is expected that the car will face a tough competition from successful models like Honda City and Hyundai Verna. These cars have created quite a name for themselves in the past few years.
Fiesta has not proved to be a successful venture for Ford India. The car never enjoyed a good sales figure in spite of a price cut. Therefore the company is rolling out this facelifted version at a super competitive price. Hope this will give the company a better sales chart.
