We reported earlier as well that all the leading car manufacturers in the world are preparing themselves for the mega event of the year. I am talking about the biggest auto event in the world, Frankfurt Motor Show. A lot of things have been planned for this 12 day event. A number of cars will be unveiled and concepts will be presented. Be it the BMW’s i3 and i8 or Honda’s Civic Tourer, a lot of new faces will be welcoming you at the show. Now it has been revealed that Skoda too has a facelift to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This much anticipated car is the Skoda Yeti. Two variants of the Yeti will be displayed at the vent beginning from 10th of September.
Skoda Yeti is a 5-seater compact SUV manufactured by Skoda Auto since May 2009. The car was introduced in March 2009 at Geneva Motor Show. Yeti marked the entry of Skoda auto into the SUV segment. Skoda Yeti is sold in European nations in 3 variants which are called as Ambition, Experience and Track. In United Kingdom it is available in 5 variants which are designated as S, E, SE, SE plus and Elegance. Yeti is available in India in 3 variants which are Elegance, Active and Ambition. The car has been extremely successful since its launch and the company sold its 100,000th Yeti in the year 2011. The car has received many prestigious awards till date, like the “Best car of the year” in 2009 and “Best European car of the year” in 2010 etc.
The new Yeti will be endorsing a redesigned front as well as rear. Talking about the car front, it now exhibits a design language which is observed in newer models from Skoda namely Octavia, Superb and Rapid. The front fascia now endorses a more angular look, a new Skoda signature styled grille with the company’s new logo which was revealed, in India, earlier with the launch of Octavia. The front also has new almost square shaped headlights. The round fog lamps have been eliminated from the new model. The front bumper and chin along with the hood are all redesigned and have straighter lines which suit the new grille and headlights.
Coming to the sides of the car, the profile pretty much remains the same but looks a little smoother now. The wheels have been redesigned as well. The rear has also received styling tweaks. The trunk lid now shows triangular kinks which are also carried by the Indian version of Skoda Rapid. The tail lights have been modified and now they endorse C shaped inserts which could be fitted with LED lights. The rear of the car also gets a smoother bumper along with redesigned reflectors.
Talking about the car’s interior, there are a few noticeable changes made here also. The cabin now has a new steering wheel and the seat fabric and colour shades have also been given some improvements. While we know so much about the cosmetic upgrades, we still do not know anything about the changes made to the car’s engine. So it is expected that Yeti will offer the same engine options, as it does now. If any changes have been made then probably they will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show only.
Skoda will be unveiling two variants of Yeti at the show which are Yeti City and Yeti Outdoor. The City variant is free from the black plastic elements on its exterior and offers new coloured elements. This makes its look more appealing. The Outdoor version will carry the black plastic elements and thus will look more rugged. As if now, we do not have any info regarding the pricing of this car or regarding its arrival into the country.
