PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U., a subsidiary of Investindustrial, has signed a licensing agreement with Ferrari to build Ferrari Land, a new Prancing Horse theme park, inside PortAventura resort and theme park outside Barcelona in Spain. Ferrari Land will cover 75,000 square meters and include plenty of new and exciting attractions for Prancing Horse aficionados of all ages, including the fastest and highest vertical accelerator of Europe. An opportunity for the entire family to discover and experience the Ferrari world. The first Ferrari-themed hotel is also to be built inside PortAventura and will be a luxury 5-star establishment with a driving stimulator, restaurants and 250 rooms.
For 2014, the theme park is delighted to launch yet another outstanding attraction: Angkor, a ride, which takes visitors on a boat trip through a lush jungle to face numerous adventures and challenges. Recently, PortAventura revealed an agreement with Cirque du Soleil, the leading theatre company of the world. During the months of July and August, the Canadian troupe will install its Big Top in the resort to perform one of its most celebrated shows, ‘Kooza’. The agreement also lays the groundwork for the possible creation of a permanent base for Cirque du Soleil at the resort in the near future.

Ferrari Land will further reinforce the Ferrari brand in the region and will appeal to entire families including F1 (Formula One) supporters. We will continue to further look at the introduction of additional Ferrari theme parks outside of Europe with no rush, while continuing to maximize the value of our luxurious brand without diluting it.

Ideally situated near Barcelona in Spain, PortAventura is the 2nd largest destination resort in Europe and the first in Southern Europe and the largest destination resort in the Mediterranean. It operates a 105ha family-oriented theme park, integrated into a destination resort with four themed 4-star hotels with 2000 rooms and a convention centre for up to 4000 people. It welcomes around 4 million visits yearly to enjoy more than 100 daily shows, its 39 rides, 48 restaurants, 31 shops, an aquatic park with the tallest free fall water ride of Europe and a dedicated kids’ area.
The project will involve an overall investment of 100 million euro and the Ferrari theme park itself officially opens in 2016. PortAventura already welcomes 4,000,000 visitors a year, of whom 50 percent come from outside Spain.
