Just a couple of weeks after it launched the Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione in India, Fiat India has teased a photo of its upcoming 500 Abarth on Twitter. Compared to the standard Fiat 500, the Abarth version looks sportier. Although matching the popularity of the Fiat 500 can be quite a hard task for the Abarth since the Fiat 500 has a huge fan base and almost has cult status amongst auto lovers.
The power source of the Abarth 500 would a four-cylinder 16-valve 1.4-liter MultiAir petrol engine capable of producing 160bhp of peak power and 230Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The price of the Fiat Abarth 500 when it is launched is expected to be priced around 25 lakhs mark which would make it in a same league as the MINI Cooper, BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class. But would it be easy for the 500 Abarth to survive in this competitive market since the likes of Mercedes, BMW and MINI already have a good network of dealerships and service centers across the country – something that Fiat lacks very badly.
