Fiat has launched its Abarth 595 Competizione in India yesterday at a price of Rs.29.85 lakh. At the launch event, the company unveiled its Abarth Punto which is expected to hit the shelves around the country in the coming days. The 595 Competizione is based on the Fiat 500 hatch and retains most of its design elements. Compared to the Fiat 500, the 595 Competizione receives only minor upgrades to make it stand apart from its parent.
The 595 Competizione looks sportier than the Fiat 500 hatch thanks to the titanium grey grilles both on its front and rear. Apart from the grilles, footrest and door kick-plates, aluminium pedals, machined aluminium fuel, bespoke floor mats and oil filler caps add to the sporty appeal of the 595 Competizione. Outside changes are rounded off with 17-inch alloy wheels with cross drilled disc brakes and red brake callipers.
On the inside, apart from better fabric on seats and upholstery, most of the things in the 595 Competizione are same as the Fiat 500. The 595 is powered by 1.4 litre four-cylinder turbocharged T-Jet petrol engine which is capable of churning out a max power of 158bhpp and a peak torque of 230Nm is Sports Mode. When in Normal Mode the engine churns out a peak torque of 206Nm. The engine has been mated to a five-speed automatic manual transmission. Here the Indian version of 595 Competizione differs from its international counterpart which is offered with an option of five-speed manual gearbox.
Scorpione black, iridato white, cordolo red and campovolo grey – these are the four color schemes in which the 595 Competizione will available in the market.
