Fiat India has detailed its new 2013 Punto Sport through a video

The 2013 Fiat Punto was launched by the company on the 14th of August. Now Fiat India has released a new video which explains the car precisely. We, therefore, can provide you all the details you need to know about the Punto Sport. We know very well that Punto fans in India have been wishing for a more “performance oriented” version of Punto. The Sport version of Punto launched last year was simply a better looking model and unfortunately, this new Punto Sport is the same. The Punto fans still don’t get impressive engine specs in spite of it being a sports version of the car. The Sporting version launched sometime back in UK is a very impressive car and the Indian version is not even close to it.

This new 2013 Punto Sport was launched by the company at the Fiat Caffe in Bangalore. The Punto is not enjoying a great market here. Punto users have consistently reported that they wished that Punto was a bit more powerful. The company has launched a sporty variant now, may be, to get some benefit from the festive season in the country.

Talking about the new Punto, it has received only cosmetic upgrades both on the outside and inside with absolutely no changes made to the car’s powertrain. Hence, 2013 Punto Sport is housing a Fiat Multijet diesel engine with a capacity of 1.3 liter. This engine is capable of giving a maximum power output of a mere 90 bhp and a maximum torque of 209 Nm. The car will offer only a 5 speed manual transmission. As per the ARAI testing, the 2013 Punto Sport has a fuel economy of 20.5 km per liter.

The new Punto mainly exhibits several cosmetic upgrades. Talking about the car exterior, it is available in 2 brilliant color schemes. These are the Pearl White and Exotica Red. The car’s roof has been painted in black color which goes very well with both the color schemes. The wing mirrors have been painted keeping in mind the body color of the car. The car with Pearl White scheme gets red colored wing mirrors. The Exotica Red Punto Sports sees black colored wing mirrors. Other changes which have been incorporated included are a roof spoiler, “Punto” branded door sills, “Sport” badges as well as sporty pedals, chrome finishing on the exhaust pipe and body decals.

Fiat India has priced this new Sport Punto at Rs 7, 60,048 (ex Showroom Delhi). The standard Punto model without any Sporty upgrade is being offered at a price of Rs 7,38,047 (ex- showroom New Delhi). The company is also offering a comprehensive warranty that is valid up to 3 years or 100,000 km (whichever is reached earlier) for the Punto.

Fiat Punto Back View

Since these additions are merely cosmetic upgrades the existing Punto customers can go for “Sport Accessory Kit” and turn their regular Punto into a new Sport Punto.

Fiat Punto 2013

Fiat India witnessed a considerable drop in Punto sales after the launch of Honda Amaze and Ford EcoSport. Instead of mere cosmetic upgrades, the company should go for a complete facelift to attract more customers.
