Since a long time Renault had been waiting to launch Duster into the market as the car had fared well at the recently held Indian Auto Expo in January, 2012. Renault has a lot to offer with Duster being its second SUV in India. The expectations are high from this car and thus Renault has kicked off the first phase of bookings of Duster amidst wide anticipation. The French automobile heavyweight is planning to garner a massive response from the car and it will be competing strongly with its counterparts in the Indian SUV market said to be one of the most competitive markets across the world with almost all major car-makers playing in the arena.
Renault Duster will be launching in the first week of July and the booking phase has already commenced with responses pouring in. Duster will be available across all the dealerships of Renault in India and the company expects a grand opening of the car here following which more variants of the car will surface in the market. There is a lot that Renault expects Duster to do in the Indian market as Renault has never been able to make its presence properly in the truest sense here in India owing to the fact that there are bigger players here. SUV market in India is presently ruled by Mahindra and Mahindra Pvt. Ltd which has been sitting comfortably on the throne ever since it rolled out Scorpio, Xylo and XUV 500. Everyone here knows the response that XUV 500 got when its booking phase was initiated and the demand was on such a massive scale that Mahindra had to host more booking phases for the car in order to meet the increasing demands. Renault expects the same from Duster and maybe this is the reason why they are trying to promote the SUV in all manners possible without leaving any stones unturned.
There specific details regarding the booking have not been disclosed yet, but what we know is that a customer has to shell out Rs. 51,000/- in order to book the car and various auto portals across the country are trying their level best to gather details of the booking session. It is being said that Renault Duster has been brought to the country on the same platform as Renault Logan and both of these cars will probably have the same way of promotions. Renault Duster is approximately 4.3 meters long which makes it perfect to be called a family SUV. The car will be available in primarily two engine variants one of which is the 1.6 L petrol engine capable of producing a maximum power of 104bhp whereas the other one is a 1.5 L diesel engine doling out 105bhp power. The diesel variant of the SUV will be available in 6-speed manual transmission system. On the contrary, the petrol version will have 5-speed manual transmission system tuned up with the engine. Price is said to be in the range of 8-10 Lakhs.
