Force Motors was on the jeopardy of launching Viano based MPV in India soon, but there they landed on another of their vehicle called ‘Gurkha’ for same note.
However, the Gurkha is been allowed a media trial on a prior note for getting the corrections done. Despite a long gap after such, the Pune based carmaker hasn’t launched the vehicle in the market.
Now, a report on internet is claiming Force Motors has shelved the plans of Viano based MPV till 2015. Reason cited by the firm is ‘slow market growth’.
“We were to invest Rs 350-400 crore in the SCV project, which was a completely new family of vehicles that we would make at Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh),” Prasan Firodia, MD, Force Motors, said. The sluggish market conditions for the auto segment had prompted the company to put this project on the back-burner for now, he added.
Force Motors has already licensed the upcoming 9-seater MPV from Daimler Group, and it was also been spied a number of times on Indian roads doing test rounds. In addition to that, the report continued saying, Gurkha to also be rolled out in market by 2014.
The company seems busy in logging the campaign and working out market plans of Gurkha SUV, while we learnt that the ‘F’ logoed carmaker too has kept on hold the plans of its new range of small commercial vehicles (SCVs) which it was about to introduce in the Indian market.
At present, the Force Motors enjoys 25 dealerships in the country, and it sold around 3,000 since 2011 through those odd dealerships.
For last, Force Motors has added that Force One SUV will be having a new variant by February 2014. The company refrained from divulging any information about this upcoming variant of SUV.
