Home grown manufacturer from Pune, Force Motors, recently signed a license agreement with leading German auto company, Daimler AG following which, Daimler will supply Force Motors with technology in order to develop a MPV or multi purpose vehicle by Force Motors.
The MPV, which is due to launch by the end of next year, will be the company’s second product in their new range of passenger vehicles planned by the company, the first being the Force One SUV that is due to launch next month.
According to a statement released by the company, Daimler has signed a licensing agreement with them for supplying technology to build an MPV for Force Motors. The supply of this technology will allow the company to make an entry into the goods and passenger vehicles segment that is adjacent to their product line up, which consists of the Traveller, an LCV.
The German based company, which is Mercedes Benz’s parent company, have already licensed the technology for their 2.2l diesel engine to the Indian auto company, Force Motors, as well as assisted the company in the development of the product. Force also manufactures axles and engines for Mercedes Benz India following a contract with the company.
The company is also having dialogues with the government of Madhya Pradesh for opening a new facility in Pithampur for developing their new MPV. The production of the facility is projected to commence with an approximate production capacity of 24,000 vehicles per annum.
